Frequently Asked Questions for Water Bores

  • Why Choose CBJ Drilling Services Over Any Other Company?

    • CBJ Drilling Services is a 100% family-owned and operated company with over 55 years of combined experience in water drilling. This ensures our customers receive only the very best.
    • We are present from the initial consultation to the bore construction completion. We do not send inexperienced drillers bearing our name to complete this very important task.
    • Our word-of-mouth reputation is our best advertisement, and we invite you to ask around before deciding to do business with us.
    • All our drillers hold a Class 6 Australian Drilling Licence.
  • How Long Does it Take to Get My Licence Approved & How Much Will My Licence Be?

Your approval from Water NSW for a stock and domestic bore can take from 1 day to 1 month depending on your individual licencing requirements. Irrigation licences will take longer.

Pricing for a stock & domestic bore licence can vary and it is best to check on the Water NSW website . These prices can change without notice. You must supply all the requested information to speed up your application.

  • Why do I Require a Licenced Driller?

In all states and territories, water drillers are required to be licenced. A driller should be able to provide references and produce a licence endorsed to cover the procedures necessary to complete your bore. Being licenced ensures that the driller and the company are accountable for the workmanship. With a licence should come many years of experience in bore construction. Using an unlicensed driller can result in irreparable damage to aquifers and the environment. In addition to compromising the quality of your bore, construction methods can fail, and you are left with a hole in the ground.

  • How Much Will it Cost to Drill for a Bore?

A bore is tailor-made for each client. Every bore is different and therefore priced accordingly. The following are examples of why an exact quotation is unrealistic.

    • Water is found at different depths and in different soil structures, requiring different types of drilling.
    • Most bores require casing in PVC with some requiring steel. These products vary greatly in price per meter.
    • Gravel packing the annulus of the bore is necessary and different quantities of gravel are required. The amount required will depend on depth and ground structure.
    • Bores need to be developed, which may take an hour or a week.
    • Stainless steel filters may be required.
    • Water NSW may request your bore be constructed a certain way.

CBJ Drilling offers onsite and obligation-free consultations on your property to determine pricing.

  • How Do I Purchase a Pump for My Bore?

Once invoicing is finalised, we will forward your Form A documents to you. These documents are then taken to your preferred supplier who will tailor make the pump to your needs. You can only purchase a pump for your bore once you have these documents.
